The world is changing faster than ever before, hence many have been struggling for some years now. This is reflected in the number of antidepressants dispensed, which increased by 367,986 over five years, reaching 2,180,505 in the last financial year, according to Te Hiringa Mahara, published by the Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission in 2023. Also concerning is that Antidepressant medications dispensed to children and teenagers increased by 53 per cent over those five years.

Struggle is part of change, and as we move towards it, the reorganisation is occurring. The view I follow from mentors is that as we improve, we need to struggle. We are not defined by our struggle but by the ability to show resilience and move forward to build a better world.
